First launched nearly five years later, then Ace Fight: Infinite, and four years later the 3DS launched Attack Horizon Legacy+, 2019’s Ace Fight 7: Skies Unknown was the first game in the mainline series for over a decade and Took back the series. StrangeReal, the franchise’s fictional Earth stand-in.
Now, five years later, Bandai Namco is bringing Skies Unknown to take the Deluxe Edition approach further. Attack Horizon entries on the 3DS introduced avid Nintendo gamers to the series’ arcade-style flighter combat, though we’re very happy to suddenly see this original Access land on Transfer – and perhaps a little nervous about how this port will fare. Is. On hybrid machines.
We’ll jump into the cockpit to work on our review once possible, but in the meantime, we were recently able to ask game producer Ryunosuke Hagiwara a few quick questions on this transfer port…
Nintendo Generations: Transfer “successor” information is on everyone’s radar on Generations, and it’s an occasion when an Ace Fight game is released on a Nintendo platform. We’re glad to see it back, but our first question is: why should this transfer port be greenlit this year?
Ryunosuke Hagiwara, producer: Development of this transfer model began in 2022, before details about its successor were available. When we conducted a survey of Ace Fight users around the world, we found that there were gamers who were interested in Ace Fight, but could no longer play the game because they did not have a gaming console.
Therefore, we decided to introduce a transfer version of the original name to the series so that more people can enjoy it.
For avid players who may not be familiar with the series and its history, can you tell us what you think makes Ace Fight different from alternative fighting and flight-sim games?
Ace fight sequence is a sequence in flying shooting games in which the player becomes an ace pilot, flying freely in 360 degrees in a clear length chasing a practical view of the sky. Take advantage of the fun of being a hero and keep the area safe by controlling the fighter jet with playful controls that may differ from those present in flight simulators.
Transfer is already home to some important “Impossible Ports”, but there are also several places that are falling short. What were the biggest challenges in bringing the entire Ace Fight experience to Nintendo hardware?
ACE7’s proper cloud rendering could not be reproduced on transfer throughout the validation section. (However), we were able to access the manufacturing model assets after a long period of trial and error to preserve the body rate without compromising gameplay.
What body charge are you focusing on the transfer?
30fps (variable).
Ace Fight 7 used to be the first game in the series to feature volumetric clouds, real-time condensation, and icing on aircraft. Did those choices create a transfer surge? If so, were they difficult to implement?
Ace Fight 7 features a fair representation of the clouds and climate that affect the game in the actual year. Then after much trial and error, we succeeded in porting the game on Transfer so that avid players could enjoy the same moderate weather expressions and volume that were reproduced in the unedited version.
It would no longer be a true type of ace fighting game with StrangeReal not having a deep, advanced storyline. Can you tell us a bit about how you approach the story for a game like this? Also, can we expect a 1:1 single-player content experience on Transfer compared to the 2019 model?
While keeping the storyline in mind, it is notable to portray each product as a separate story so that players who are unfamiliar with the sequel can enjoy it even if they have not played the previous titles. On the other hand, we believe that the charm of the series lies in the fact that, by separating the events as stories, each story can also be explained as an event in the general world of “StrangerReal” and linked to each other. Can feel. Every option.
To approach this contradictory environment, we had many discussions with a group of employees who have been involved in the creation of the series for a long year, designing the levels with great precision, and a long year developing the story. Have spent. With director Sunao Katabuchi responsible for the script.
We noticed that there was a disconcerting mention of the Manage Gun: Maverick DLC and the Darkstar Prototype in the trailer. Will homeowners have to remove the “need for speed” from pre-flight testing? Is all optional DLC marketing campaign material released so far included?
Due to the popularity of Manage Gun: Maverick Airplane I’m Ready among avid gamers around the world, we are pleased to announce that Manage Gun: Maverick Airplane I’m Ready will also be available for transfer, this is at once One is being bought. We are hoping that you will benefit from the Manage Gun experience on transfer.
Online multiplayer with the best team of friends used to be a relaxing experience in unedited AC7 Late Fall. Did it live to tell the tale of the transformation or is the transfer model purely a single-seat affair?
This transfer model supports the same online multiplayer form as the unedited model. We are looking forward to you competing with alternative top pilots from around the world and striving to become the most powerful in the field. On-line game play requires a web connection and a Nintendo Transfer On-Line subscription. On the other hand, note that the multiplayer form no longer supports cross-platform game play.
Is there anything else you’d like to add that hasn’t been touched upon by our questions?
This version of Ace Fight 7: Skies Unknown for Nintendo Transfer will be a fantastic version that comes with the main game, 3 unedited airplane units, as well as 3 SP missions and optional content. Enjoy the thrill of exciting dogfights in the sky, in your room or outside in your Nintendo Transfer!
Finally, what video games have you been playing recently in your alternate year – on transfer or elsewhere?
I’m a member of the Ace Fight Team, so as a gamer I play games featuring AAA titles from alternative corporations at every opportunity, although I say this is for reference purposes.
Recently, I became addicted to Ronin. I loved the joy of meeting real historical figures in the open-world environment of the Bakumatsu period and the joy of using swordsmanship to take down evil enemies, partly because I’m a fan of Bakumatsu.
This interview has been lightly edited for readability. our thanks tOh Ryunosuke Hagiwara, and to Claire at Bastion for this environment.
Ace Fight 7: Skies Unknown Deluxe Edition has recently become available on transfer – we’ll share our review with you when we’re in position.
