It’s been less than six months since the arrival of the OnePlus Note 2, and yet here we are with a pristine style from an already obviously curious logo. The emblematic ancient OnePlus Note 2R has officially hit (digital) shelves on July 16, joining its sibling as a viable Wear OS alternative for smartwatch users. Internally, this device offers the consumer the same experience as its more expensive counterpart, although a pristine look and a cheap $229 ticket make the untouched type a handsome purchase.

It would be an understatement to say that I was amazed when the untouched OnePlus Note 2 arrived on my wrist, but the design of the device was by no means my favorite. The car-inspired uneven affair wasn’t in my wheelhouse, guess what? Call me old fashioned, but I love the roundness of circular watches. Fortunately, OnePlus Observe 2R has returned to an old circle. The device additionally drops its predecessor’s redundant rotating crown and button combo down to two counterpart pushers. The pristine dual-tone buttons look like the numbers found on traditional timepieces, and if I wish I could twist one to scroll through menus and apps, I’m glad they disagree like the Note 2. Don’t turn around till the end.
What is left unchanged are the device dimensions. The huge Observe 2 moved to the Wear OS level at 47mm without the secondary dimension option. Sadly (except if you have heavier wrists), the OnePlus Note 2R comes with a similarly large display and smaller size backup. Each generation has additionally wider bezels, reducing the length of the latest display screens relative to the diameter of the case. Perpetual indices have been added to the 2R’s design, which adequately hide the lifeless length of a deserted bezel that certainly looks tacky and repetitive with the monitor faces. I probably would have liked to see OnePlus go out of the way and extend the tool’s usability show all the way to the sapphire glass edge.
The Keep Watch comes with a silicone strap ties via a stainless-steel buckle, it’s comfortable and washer-friendly, which is exactly what I ask for in an Eye strap. A similar look at the place where the band keeps attaches to the watch case shows that the ancient type of strap design is quite different than the extreme futuristic one. The band maintains a blank sequence throughout the case method rather than flaring to satisfy the case lugs. I really like this simplification, but sadly it doesn’t solve the gapping problem caused by the lag design.
Made from aluminum instead of stainless metal, the OnePlus Watch 2R has a 20% lighter design.
The OnePlus Note 2R also comes in two colors: Woodland Green and Gunmetal Grey. OnePlus has completely nailed my favorite color in the OnePlus Note 2 (a nondescript mix of blue and green that the family rarely gets proper), but I’d happily settle for a pleasant, peaceful green in this future. I will accept. Anyone who prefers a neutral wearable can choose the gunmetal gray watch case with a lightweight silicone strap. But despite the bezel criticism discussed above, both are attractive gadgets, albeit a little larger.

Beyond its evolution, consumers should find the OnePlus Note 2R extremely popular. The Keep Watch packs similar specifications to its sister tool, with a dual-engine architecture powered by the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 and BES2700 chipset. This means the same incredible battery-saving features I love in the unencumbered and quick, eco-friendly performance of Wear OS 4’s most efficient performance.
Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and Ultra, which were introduced recently, the OnePlus Note 2 does not run on Wear OS 5 yet (although I expect this device to be made available to OnePlus customers within the hour). However, the former generation has a number of features to deal with for customers, including all features like Maps, Calendar, Gmail, Google Play Games Bind, and Google Associates. 2R also offers NFT support to continue to feature Google Pockets. All of those apps worked flawlessly on the ancient device during my tests.

Most importantly, this Keep watch boasts of the same exceptional battery date as its predecessor due to its good dual-chip internals and its massive 500mAh battery mobile. This will take up to 100 hours for the clever way or 48 hours for the rough way. With the always-on display enabled, two nights of holiday monitoring and a two-hour long GPS exercise, the device still has some juice left within the tank. I plugged it in just to be safe, but I’ll still be able to record vacation data this night, and the process will be just as fast as it once was in its prime. This is not surprising as the charger may be the same for both watches.
The OnePlus Note 2R features the same internals in untouched form, including dual-chip architecture and incredible battery life.
If you’re looking for album options and even incremental development, you won’t find both here. The smartwatch experience, condition monitoring, and other important apps are exactly the same as what customers get on the much-used OnePlus Watch 2. This isn’t necessarily a sinful factor, despite the fact that there are some negligible sensor shortcomings I would have liked to see resolved. Overall, this is a critical condition unless you are a dedicated athlete seeking pinpoint accuracy.

Aside from aesthetic differences and internal similarities, the most notable feature that sets the Note 2 and Monitor 2R apart is their price. The Ancient Tool Clash is priced at just $229, which is about $70 less than the original price of the OG. This knocks the Keep Watch Sunlight out of flagship Apple Observe or Galaxy Observe territory and into the budget-friendly segment. My gut tells me this exit is the company’s goal to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Note FE, which is ahead of the company’s actual Galaxy Note 7 and Ultra devices.
Most importantly, the OnePlus Note 2R comes at just $229 without sacrificing key features or specifications.
I love a big market with wallet options of different sizes. If I weren’t a wearables reviewer, my pace would be rigid and I wouldn’t stick with the Apple Observe SE or the Garmin Venu SQ2. The fact is, I’ll admit that my objective is wrong.) Smartwatches are powerful devices not only for comfort, but also for fitness tracking and inspiring a vibrant life. I’m excited to see OnePlus and other companies putting resources into making the experience more accessible.

Without a pristine flagship wearable in recent years, OnePlus launched two smartwatches within an hour with negligible differences other than fabric and price. The OnePlus Note 2R offers similar features to its more expensive stablemate, including unparalleled processing power, incredible battery life, and Wear OS. Certainly, there’s nothing modern to be discovered in the ancient style, although I certainly wouldn’t be concerned about an equally robust device at a significantly cheaper price. In my opinion, it is even better to watch it.
The cheaper, but equally rugged OnePlus Note 2R symbolizes the growing popularity of the company’s budget-conscious models.
That said, the device does suffer from some of the shortcomings of its sibling, making it a less attractive purchase for some customers. For those who can’t bear the thought of wearing such a large device, I recommend looking at Samsung’s original, the Galaxy Note 7 ($299.99 at Amazon), which is available in two case size options. However, the cheaper Galaxy Note FE discussed above (on the product’s web page) is available in a 40mm case dimension. Both watches offer strong Wear OS stories, especially for Samsung phone users, and can now be worn symbiotically with Samsung’s pristine Galaxy Ring ($399.99 at Amazon), if you’re into finger-based tracking. Let’s also take.
If you want a device with particularly valuable condition monitoring and deep coaching insights, the most efficient smartwatch is the Garmin Venu 3 ($449.99 at Amazon), or the cheaper device’s square-shaped sibling, the Venu Class 2. ($249.99 on Amazon). Of course, the OnePlus Note 2R is best suited for Android phones. If you’re from the iOS camp, I’d recommend the Apple Note SE ($269.99 at Amazon) for the best value and the Apple Monitor order 9 for the best experience.

Inspection 2, R-defined.
The OnePlus Observe 2R is a more affordable model of OnePlus’ flagship smartwatch that offers a pristine lightweight design and retains many of the key features. Like the OnePlus Note 2, the Ancient Edition packs two chipsets to maximize efficiency and capacity with a battery life of up to 48 hours.
