spoiler ALERT! This story covers highlights from episode 5 Dragon’s Field On HBO.

The epic Dance of the Dragons in Episode 4 led many viewers to think that King Aegon, portrayed by Tom Glynn-Carney, didn’t have much time for this international next movie, as he and Sunfire jumped to the farm – Bad Emond disagreed (Evan Mitchell).

But Glynn-Carney is here to let everyone know that her volatile personality is very much alive … for now. Right here, U.O.K. The actor talks about that aerial conflict, what it’s like to play the game for such a traumatized person, and whether or not his personality really mirrors that of his younger brother Aemond.

Deadline Are You Lying in Bed Getting Burnt Valerian in Episode 5 Did metal come off your frame?

Tom Glynn-Carney It’s definitely me.

Deadline I believed you were worthless. So that you are no longer idle but?

glyn-carney I say a word of respect… Useless people can discuss.

Deadline So make sure you’re sitting here, you’re not idle.

glyn-carney I’m no longer useless though.

Deadline Let’s revisit the date you shot that epic dragon battle,

glyn-carney Smartly, that date, actually, was definitely about three weeks of painting, trying to get these certain angles and all those set objects together. It takes a generation to coordinate something like this. And it was a great laugh. This was once a minor other. What I’ve had to do with the weighty discussions, big council scenes and pub moments so far… felt more dramatic. And in terms of theatrics, I’m not ruthless hammy and stuff, I’m ruthless about being in the theater and playing sports. However, it (the dragon fight) felt very filmy, being strapped to this crane and having this heavy camera thrown in your face on a long hydraulic arm. There were several green displays and gray displays and tennis balls on stick and air machines. It was wonderful at one time. It was a steep learning curve for me, as I had never done such detailed work before when it came to CGI work.

Time limit What was the conclusion from that? Isn’t Aegon involved in the war, especially after the dragon?

glyn-carney We always knew that he was not the fearless, brave warrior that many other characters are on screen. His strengths lie elsewhere. And I think he was fully aware of this at one time. So going into this, he had to know himself and discover a coping mechanism to let people know he wasn’t insecure and he wasn’t worthless, which his mother was kindly reminded of.

DEADLINE Do you think Kristen saw what Aemond did to Aegon’s dragon in that battle? That Emond is in charge?

glyn-carney Kristen undoubtedly sees Aegon in the field and Aemond looks at him with his sword drawn. So he may form his own personal opinion about Aemond’s intentions, which are hidden even from me. I’m no longer convinced the story was there. There may be varied results.

DEADLINE What’s it like to play a game with someone you dislike so much?

glyn-carney So that you are no longer Crew Agon, after this? Who wants to be given priority? Where is the happiness in that? I think it’s great to play someone like Egon because he’s so unpredictable. He is very unstable. He is no longer someone people don’t like. That is a fatal case. He is a complete and utter tragedy of a person, and I feel deeply, deeply sorry for him. And I think that’s largely why I’ve wanted to research his weaknesses, his weaknesses and his boyhood, all the issues that he lacks that largely explain his choices, that experience has made him a Has given undisputed identity. There’s a lot of volume to unpack. She is far more layered and sophisticated than just a misfit personality.

DEADLINE It’s been an interesting experience seeing Aegon and Aemond because they’re clearly evil kids, which doesn’t make sense because it’s not like their father was a destructive person. So where does that evil come from?

glyn-carney I have no idea. I’m ruthless, they have Targaryen blood running through them, so there’s likely an element of madness somewhere. I think that if he had had a special upbringing and a special early years experience, the issues might have been different. For example, if they had had the treatment given to Rhaenyra, their lives might have been different. She was once a completely fair child. She reached here first. She was the only one whose image was once in the refrigerator. So yes, I think in some ways they are a product of their historical past and their upbringing. But once again they got spoiled in the same way. They have never had to work for anything else and it can have consequences. This is certainly a question for a psychologist, not for me now.

DEADLINE Why does he hate his brother so much?

glyn-carney I don’t think he does.

Deadline However, he was such a jerk to her in the brothel scene.

glyn-carney He is brother. Aegon was once angry that Aemond had been on the Miniature Council for several weeks and that he was plotting with Kristen behind his back. Largely due to factionalism and Emond’s personal self-gain to keep Aegon out of the situation, figuring that Aegon would have to step into the king’s shoes to get the chance, Aegon wanted to give him a peg. I don’t think it came from a playground of disliking him. It comes from a playground like, ‘You’re my little brother, know your place.’ It’s dismissive and besides, I’m from Manchester. Where I come from, there are many brother-sister relationships that are completely wrong and broken. This is very normal for me. I’m lucky that I have a good relationship with my sibling, but it’s very common and not at all out of the ordinary to see two siblings who actively want to cause harm every chance they get. This doesn’t come from hatred. This is the best way for people to behave.
