I asked Rebecca Prince Ruiz, founder of Plastic Distant July, Who ditched single-use plastics, then took a trip to a recycling plant and saw how much waste the city was creating. I attempted to solve this problem in 2019 by replacing my deodorant with one that came in a tumbler jar, purchasing reusable string rounds, and using menstrual cups.

I’m trying again this yearR. I’m discarding single-use plastic for an hour and reporting for it Morning edition. Through this experiment, I am hoping to discover additional plastic potential alternatives that I can stick to.

Here’s my plastic-free game plan:
♻️ Avoid purchasing groceries and food supplies online.
♻️ Fill my own boxes in the bulk category of my groceries.
♻️ I keep a package with reusable food reserves and silverware in my tote bag every time I leave the house.
♻️ Replace single-use plastics with plastic-free alternatives, if any.

Do you want to solve the problem for me? Take a look at the following tips from Prince Ruiz to prepare yourself for good fortune. And, keep an eye on Morning Edition on July 26th to see if I’ve finished the problem.
