“The PC industry continues to strengthen with its third consecutive quarter of growth,” said Ishan Dutt, chief analyst at Canalys. “The shift in the market is coinciding with exciting announcements from vendors and chipset makers as their AI PC roadmaps move from promise to reality. The quarter concluded with more clarity about Apple’s AI strategy with the launch of the first Copilot+ PCs powered by Snapdragon processors and the announcement of the Apple Intelligence Suite for Mac, iPad, and iPhone. Beyond these innovations, the market will begin to benefit even more from its biggest tailwind – surging PC demand driven by the Windows 11 refresh cycle. The vast majority of channel partners surveyed by Canalys in June indicated that Windows 10 retirement is likely to have the greatest impact on customer refresh plans in the second half of 2024 or the first half of 2025, suggesting that shipment growth Only the momentum will pick up. In the coming quarters.”
Lenovo maintained its position as the market leader in the global PC market, delivering 14.7 million devices in the second quarter of 2024, representing 4% annual growth. HP followed carefully, shipping 13.7 million gadgets and taking second place. Dell is in third place, but is the only supplier to record a year-on-year average decline of 2% year-on-year, shipping 10.1 million gadgets. This slowdown was primarily due to lower shipments to the United States market, where alternative lead distributors saw expansion. Apple ranked fourth, shipping 5.5 million gadgets and achieving 9% marketplace percentage, an increase of 6% compared to the same period last year. Asus took the 5th spot, overtaking Acer, thanks to the good fortunes of its gaming PCs. Asus achieved the best expansion in Q2 2024, shipping 4.5 million gadgets with a 17% annual growth.
