Celtics back in Mass celebrating NBA title after night in Miami

                The Boston Celtics are back in Massachusetts after spending a night in Miami to celebrate their NBA-record 18th championship.  The Celtics flew to Miami around noon on Tuesday, just 13 hours after clinching the title with a victory in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.  Monday night.  The team's return flight landed at Bedford's Hanscom Field Airport just after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.  Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla was seen carrying the Larry O'Brien championship trophy from the plane.  He then placed the trophy in the back seat of his vehicle while reporters asked him questions about the team's trip to Miami, a Florida city known for its vibrant nightlife.  “It was fun.  We had a good time.  Nice to be back in Boston,” Mazzulla said.  "Grateful to the city."  Majulla's wife Kaimai grabbed the trophy from the back seat and held it as Majulla pulled his vehicle out of the airport parking lot.  Interestingly, the Celtics decided to celebrate their latest title in one's home city.  One of their biggest rivals in recent seasons.  Boston has faced the Miami Heat in the NBA Playoffs in four of the last five years, including three meetings in the Eastern Conference Finals.  The Celtics and Heat have split the postseason series, with Boston winning the 2022 conference finals and the first round this year.  Miami won two other conference finals series in 2020 and 2023.  "Whoever is hosting the Boston Celtics in Miami for a party needs to run the hell out of Miami," Miami native and rapper Uncle Luke of 2 Live Crew fame wrote in a social media post Monday night.  The Celtics returned home in time for their championship parade in Boston, which is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Friday.  In 2022, the Golden State Warriors traveled from Boston to Las Vegas to celebrate their NBA championship.  Before a scheduled victory parade in San Francisco.
