Holly Marie Combs is missing her “Charmed” co-star Shannen Doherty.
On Monday, Combs shared an emotional tribute on Instagram to Doherty, who died on Saturday, July 13, at the age of 53 after a years-long battle with cancer, a representative said.
“My partner of 31 years,” Combs began in the caption of her Instagram post, which featured a layout of photos of the two of them over the years. “There’s a hollowness in my chest and I can’t breathe. A part of me is missing, even though I know exactly what you’d say to me right now. I know exactly what you’d say to me right now.” Will ask you to do it now.”
“I know that your immortal spirit will live on in me and in my children whom you loved like your own children,” she endured. “They will walk with your sense of purpose and pride. They will be true and stand up for what is right.”
Combs said, “Your fire will live on in him and the many other Charmed people you helped raise. A fierce fighter to the end.” “My fiercest champion. My loyal protector. My best friend. You taught me the meaning of family. You were and always will be my sister. I love you.”
Doherty played Prue Halliwell in “Charmed” and Combs played Prue’s sister Piper Halliwell. The show followed a group of witches who lost their powers to fight evil.
Rose McGowan, who replaced Doherty as the third superstar of “Charmed”, said that Doherty had “the heart of a lion”.
McGowan said in an Instagram caption, “Passion for craft is often misdiagnosed as trouble. Shannon was passion. I met her in the 90s and was amazed. Later in life she actually had To know, a beautiful gift. This woman fought to live.” It included photographs of Doherty from her childhood and adulthood.
McGowan said, “Shannon knew how to be a star because she was a star since she was a kid. Her work ethic was inspiring to the end.”
McGowan remembered Doherty as a “force of energy” that would live on endlessly.
“Rest now warrior,” she said.
Even more than the Hollywood public, of which Doherty had been a part since she was a child when she played Jenny Wilder in “Little House on the Prairie,” also reacted with disappointment and hurt. Her “Beverly Hills, 90210” co-stars paid tribute to Doherty, who played Brenda Walsh in The Layout.
“Our relationship was real and honest,” Jennie Garth partly wrote on social media alongside photos of herself with Doherty. “We were often pitted against each other but none of this reflected the truth of our real relationship which was built on mutual respect and admiration.”
The actress, who played Kelly Taylor in The Layout, said, “She was courageous, passionate, determined, and so sweet and generous. I will miss her and will always honor her deeply in my heart and in my memories. My heart goes out to her. broken.” The family and Bowie and all the people who loved him.”
Tori Spelling, who played Donna Martin on “90210,” shared a photo of herself with Doherty on her Instagram Stories, along with several broken center emojis.
“I don’t have the words out yet, but we knew and that’s all that matters,” she wrote on the photo.
Jason Priestley, who played Brandon Walsh, Doherty’s Brenda double, expressed his relief.
“Shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of my friend Shannon. She was a force of nature and I will miss her. Sending love and light to her family during this dark time,” Priestley said on Instagram.
Carol Potter, who plays the matriarch of the Walsh community, said she was also surprised and saddened.
He said on Instagram, “What a journey she has been on! Gone too soon. Throughout, she remained true to herself and gave us an example of courage and perseverance in the face of her death. May she rest in peace.”
Gabrielle Carteris, who starred as Andrea Zuckerman on the popular children’s drama, also shared her relief. He invoked memories of actor Luke Perry, who played Dylan McKay and who died of a massive stroke in March 2019. He was once 52 years old.
“So little – so tragic. Rest in peace Shannon. I know Luke is there with open arms to love you,” she wrote on Instagram.
Brian Austin Green, who played David in Layout, mourned Doherty as a sister.
“Shaan. My sister. You loved me through everything. You were a huge part of my understanding of love. I will miss you more than I know at this moment. Thank you for your gift,” wrote Nainesh in her Instagram story.
Actress Olivia Munn, who has opened up about her battle with cancer, said the late actress faced her diagnosis “with such dignity, strength and grace”.
Director Kevin Smith credits Doherty for changing the dynamics of the ’90s tradition.
“@thehando, who “deconstructed the web” long before any other pop culture figure, single-handedly destroyed it in the early 90s,” he wrote alongside Carousel. “This is an incredible feat considering the Internet because We know it didn’t even exist yet.” Pictures of him and the actress.
Doherty, who starred in Smith’s 1995 “Mallrats,” “was a true talent and she became a good friend,” Smith said.
Smith, who said Doherty was “no shrinking violet”, said he was grateful for their 30-year friendship.
“She died too soon. I miss you already, doo-doo. Thanks for going to the mall with me — and for thirty years of friendship. My Canadian friend was right: You’re an American icon (and always Will remain),” he said.
Dave Collier remembered Doherty as “a woman with a beautiful smile”. Today, I will also think about the women in my life who suffered from cancer – my mother, my sister, Sharon, and my niece, Shannon, who were all so strong and so beautiful.”
Sarah Michelle Gellar also took to Instagram to pay tribute to her friend and urged her fans to “honor her” by donating to animal charities because Doherty loved animals.
“How do you find the right words to summarize a 30 year friendship? I keep reminding myself that it only hurts so much because there was so much love there,” Gellar wrote in the caption of her post. “Thank you for all your kind words and support. I loved all the messages saying how much @thehando meant to you. So let’s honor him.”
He added, “I know this will make our girl happy (and invalidate that deep throaty laugh we all loved) 💔 💔💔.”
