Dua Lipa kept Pyramid Level in the spotlight for the first generation.

Dua Lipa did not enter the Wreckage era.

The pop celebrity stormed into her first headline slot at Glastonbury with a progressive and dynamic performance that was packed with smashes from start to finish.

She arrived at the Pyramid Degrees shortly after 10pm, and opened with a rousing performance of five songs: Coaching Season, One Kiss, Phantom, Split My Middle and Levitating.

Everyone had breathless choreography of an awards show efficiency – and the moment didn’t let up all night.

Dua made five outfit changes throughout the night, including the continuing theme of large studs and leather.

He scored 15 Top 40 hits including Don’t Get Start Now, Physical and Pristine Regulation, in addition to collaborations with Elton John (Cold Center) and Mark Ronson (Electrical Power).

Surprisingly, however, she decided not to play her Barbie Injury Dance the Night game, being sent to a video intermission during one of the main celebrity’s five dress changes.

Her luscious mezzo-soprano cut cleanly between the warm Somerset breeze, especially in the dramatic ballad Glad for You, and the purring, sensual Houdini that made her up.

The 28-year-old also paid tribute to Shakespeare’s sister, who was considered one of the first female headliners of Glastonbury in 1992, by wearing a Guard T-shirt in her brochure Hormonally Yours.

At the point, she repeatedly mentioned how she had this momentum manifesting, having dreamed of headlining Glastonbury even before she recorded her first album.

“I wrote this moment and wished for it and dreamed of it and worked very hard for it,” he told the community.

He recalled one of his first shows, in which he performed with ten people who “just came because we offered them free drinks” – and how the audience seemed to grow. .

Dua Lipa was successful in creating a nightclub-like atmosphere through her choreography.

About 100,000 people watched his game, all of whom made it to the RowMead, a section reserved for campers, although which is slated to open in 2024 to allow larger crowds on the pyramid level.

“That’s a lot, innit? “There’s a lot to take in,” Lipa said.

“Little one, I’ll just stay with myself for now.”

This used to be a small amount of vulnerability in an armour-plated ready. Disagreeable music was left unpolished, negative voices were left unmelded, negative hair was left unkempt. Dua hits each mark with the precision of someone who has been growing at this pace for years.

But while this makes the pitch sound clinical and sterile, it was not.

Take away the speed at which she ran to the limits to connect with the community as they sang along to her opening act ‘Be the One’.

It wasn’t entirely spontaneous (in fact it was a far cry from the pace of her last Glastonbury performance in 2017) but the joy on the celebrity’s face as she climbed over the fence and stood face to face with her fans was worth it. Was real.

Dua Lipa joined on stage by collaborator and Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker

Shortly afterwards, he introduced Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker – a collaborator on his unused brochure Radical Optimism – to sing the band’s song The Less I Know the Higher.

Freed from the iron grip of the choreography, she simply kept pace with him on level, giving a glimpse of the person behind the tightly controlled folk character.

“Tonight I have to pretend I’m in Tame Impala,” she smiled.

If there was any complaint about his preparation, it was that such moments were very few and far between.

The show at times felt aimed more at the international TV audience than at those in front of it, and the cardio dance routines – date undeniably noticeable – didn’t allow for too much spontaneity.

However the attention span of the target audience never diminished. Even the less common unused subject matter was cleverly sequenced, so you’re never more than 3 minutes away from a licensed banger.

Ancient Regulations Mash-up

Before the performance, Lipa said that her role was “Turn Glastonbury into a nightclub” And he kept his commitment.

All songs received sonic overhauls – incorporating sounds from the ’90s rave scene or pounding out her beats with trunk-rumbling sub bass.

Her breakout clash, Pristine Regulation, was also mixed with pageant staple Glue by way of Northern Irish dance work Bicep.

The end result was a performance that felt like the VIP room of a gritty ECU nightspot, only delivered on a grander scale.

It’s not often that a Glastonbury headliner gets her second tier, but not everyone will be Dua Lipa in the near future…

Even costumes have been planned to enrich the membership theme, with possible alternatives to the type Dua would accompany her dancers (in exchange for getting out of the situation) – from a thick studded belt to Ranging from red and black flame hotpants.

Notably, she also wore flat shoes to facilitate dancing – enhancing the feeling that we were joining her for an evening out, rather than watching an untouchable pop icon.

With all the preparation, fireworks and confetti, it felt like she was laying claim to Glastonbury immortality. And, watching from the front row, she was very successful.

This choice of acts headlining this weekend’s bill – with five-time headliners Coldplay – has its work cut out for it to compare to its ambition.

The Sugababes had hits including Too Much, Hollow in the Head and About You Now

Alternative sets on Saturday came from dance collective Forest, rock band Idols and Jamie xx – who packed the Woodsy’s tent, and rewarded fans by reuniting with their bandmates Romy and Oliver from The xx for an emotional performance of You’ve Got Them. Love was given.

Swedish pop celebrity Robyn also joined her on stage to perform their unused collaboration Past.

The astonished visitors were indeed in the form of night-time visitors.

Anne-Marie introduces Aitch to The Alternative Degree for completing Psycho, and the Bombay Bicycle Club is involved through Blur’s affection and Damon Albert for playing the Heaven game – which appears in the Bombay Bicycle Club’s 2023 brochure. Appeared on My Obese Edge.

Albarn also advised people to vote in the then-party’s general election, and it seemed as if this would be criticized Thursday night’s debate between President Joe Biden and Donald TrumpSaying: “Maybe it’s time we stopped putting octogenarians in charge of the world.”

chaotic scene

Dance star Fred Again turns up at Stonebridge Bar, causing chaos as thousands of fans try to squeeze into one of the festival’s smallest venues.

There were similarly chaotic scenes on the West Holts stage at the start of the evening, as the Sugababes brought the stage to a standstill.

Organizers had to enforce a one-in, one-out policy — reminiscent of the band’s final performance, which closed Avalon Field in 2022.

Fontaines DC provided a more nihilistic alternative to Dua Lipa’s set

Elsewhere, Irish band Fontaines DC performed a stunning headline set at The Park Stage.

“Do you want to go on vacation?” frontman Grian Chayton asked, strutting across the stage wearing a skirt as he sang hits like Boys in the Better Land and Rolling Stone magazine’s single of the year, Starbuster.

Perhaps it was less impressive than the band’s last appearance at Glastonbury two years earlier, but the advantage was a more refined sound and richer vocal performance from Chayton.

Before Dua Lipa on the Pyramid Stage were indie disco punks LCD Soundsystem, who were surprisingly the perfect pairing for the sunset.

The New Yorkers turned to their more emotional material – Home, I Can Change, Someone Great – before closing with a rousing rendition of All My Friends.

Hardcore fans in the audience were taken back 20 years to the band’s heyday, while younger fans were amazed by their longevity.

“Imagine how many parties they went to,” said the person next to me. “Imagine how many medications he has taken.”

“Incredible.”
