Emma Roberts criticizes sexism surrounding Hollywood’s Napo baby backlash: ‘Why isn’t anyone calling out George Clooney?’

Actress Emma Roberts has undoubtedly benefited from her country’s famous superstardom (her father is actor Eric Roberts and her aunt is Academy Award-winning actress Julia Roberts), but she’s wondering whether men have the same debate over it as women. Easier than. Hollywood dialogue says “Nepo Babies.”

“People definitely have preconceived notions about you,” Roberts, 33, advised Bruce Bozzi on his podcast “Table for Two” about being born in a famous nation.

“I think there’s two sides to the coin, you know. People like to say, ‘You’re getting ahead because your family is in the industry,’ but the other side of it is, you know, you have to push yourself. There’s more to prove,” she defined. “Plus, if people don’t have good experiences with other people in your family, you’ll never get a chance.”

Roberts’ father, Eric, is Julia’s brother.

Roberts also suggested that having a unique story breaking into Hollywood was certainly more interesting than a family affair.

“I think there’s something to be said where everybody loves an overnight success story. And so if you’re a girl who came to Hollywood from nowhere, you know, that’s kind of an eye-roller It’s, ‘Well, this was your father,'” she said.

She said of the late singer and actress, “I always tell the funny story, ‘Why is no one calling out George Clooney for having a Nepo baby? (His aunt) Rosemary Clooney was an icon.’

Clooney and Julia have been friends for a long time.

“I’m just kidding, but I also feel like, the point is that young girls, I feel like, make it more difficult with the… Napo Baby thing. Like, I really think people Don’t see the shouting, you know, sons of famous actors, not that they should be called that, I don’t think anyone should be called that for living their dream.”

He said, “People only see your wins, because they only see when you’re on a movie poster. They don’t see all the things like rejection along the way.” “I think it’s important to talk about it, otherwise people just think, ‘Oh, you know, everything has been so nice and linear and easy.'”

Even though Roberts has presented television shows like “Unfabulous,” “Scream Queens” and “American Horror Story” and starred in several films, she’s the first to admit that auditions don’t always go her way. Although she says status has never been her end game.

“I got a very close look at what he actually looks like with my Aunt Julia. It’s obviously, you know, it’s fun, and it’s great, but there’s a part of it that’s really scary. And so I’ve always wanted to carve my own path,” she defined. “For me, fame has never been the goal, because at a certain level fame is scary.”

,After my teenage years, I was like, I never want my fame to outweigh my work. Because to me there’s nothing scarier than being so famous that you’re never left alone, but at the same time you’re not getting good jobs,” he admitted. ”And that was happening to a lot of people, I think, when I was in my teens and early 20s. And it really scared me. I never wanted this to happen to me. So, I was very conscious that I didn’t want to be in it for the fame.”

Roberts has previously stated that she has never aspired to achieve superstar status similar to that of her aunt.

She recommended a Tatler book in 2022, saying, “I never aspired to be like him. I love him very much. I love his work, but I’m just doing my thing.”
