You might not know that George Lucas was so afraid of the first spoiler story of his film being leaked. Celebrity Wars: The Empire Moves Again Even when prepared, the actor playing Darth Vader had to say “Obi Wan betrayed your father!” Now in lieu of the vintage “I’m your father!”

Deny it, the story we are going to tell you these days has nothing to do with the movies, and you may not find any Jedi here. However, the author of this story, user u/throwaway-in12312, suspects, and without any explanation, that his mother’s ancient school friend was, if the truth be told, his biological father. Put another way, why would he cut into his inheritance of more than $2 million while also bypassing his personal son?

In a Zoom call with Jason, the author learned that Gary had divorced his wife years ago and that they had not been in touch since.

The author now suspects that Gary used to be his biological father, and is considering whether to declare his inheritance.

So, the story in short is this. The unedited poster (OP) is 30 years old and he and his wife “Hannah” have a 2 year old son. According to the author’s personal words, they both have valuable jobs and earn good money, but are still far from calling themselves rich.

And so, exactly two months ago, our hero received a letter from an estate lawyer, telling him that “Gary”, an old school friend of his mother’s, died at the age of 60, and almost all His fate is with him. For reference – an entire field (equivalent to $1.5M in value) and about $800K in alternative assets!

Initially, the couple definitely thought it was more or less a scam, but later upon contacting the lawyer they learned that it was true. Additionally, OP’s mother confirmed that this is the same Gary with whom she used to be friends a few years ago. and whose son, “Jason,” was born at the same time as the author, enjoyed playing games together at their home as children.

Sometimes, Jason himself called on Zoom and confirmed that his father had died, and he was also mentioned in the will – but he was set to receive $100K. According to the person, Gary divorced his mother a few years ago and gradually distanced himself from his son’s existence.

Moreover, a few years later, he also moved to another city, and the next father and son almost had a bad contact. So much so that the son first came to know about Gary’s death through a letter from the same lawyer.

Jason also asked why his father left almost all of his estate to Opie, but our hero had the wrong idea about it. She suspected that Gary could be her biological father or sperm donor, if the truth be told – although her mother flatly denied some of these notions.

According to the woman, she and Gary were just friends since school, nothing more. Nothing else can be said about the unedited poster from his father, as he died about three years ago…

And yet, the mother urged the author not to give the inheritance, assuring that Gary had the wrong reason to include her in the will. And Jason, as far as the OP knows, is planning to fulfill the wish. However for our hero and his wife, this could be a real life-changing future, allowing them and their child to live an untouched life.

So the author wonders how ethical it might be for him to speak of this inheritance, and whether it would somehow be possible to do a DNA test to verify whether Gary was actually his father. And everything going forward will really fall into the park.

Well, if you’re thinking about DNA testing, from a purely clinical standpoint, this type of testing could be done quite easily even without wanting to exhume Gary’s body. First, the ancient gentleman’s location probably still contains enough of his biological subject matter (such as hair) to satisfy the test.

Second, there is Jason, who may be the unedited poster’s half-brother. If, after all, the truth is told the person agrees to be investigated. Despite everything, confirmation of kinship through examination of the DNA of a deceased person is quite common.

Thus, for example, in the twentieth century, the union of various self-proclaimed candidates for the position of the miraculously surviving daughters of Tsar Nicholas II, who arrived with their entire public in the imperial domain of the Romanovs. Checked more than once (if you remember the ancient fantastic animated film anastasia, this is exactly what it’s about). So technically it is reasonably conceivable. The question is in lieu of a moral description of the situation.

“In fact, we don’t know what happened to Gary, his son and his ex-wife many years ago. And we are unlikely to find out, because now only his biological son knows and remembers about it, ”says Irina Matveeva, a psychologist and authorized NLP specialist, who bored panda Contacted for comment here. “And his version, what he told the author, is very far from the fact that it is 100% true.”

“However, this does not change the situation. Whether the deceased was actually the biological father of the author or not – for some reason known only to him, he considered it necessary to mention him in the will. And at the same time he also mentioned his official son – so that we can talk specifically about a fair – in his opinion, distribution of wealth.

“Personally, I suspect this man’s mother is still holding something back, and Gary had more reasons than one to give his home and money to his son. In any case, in my opinion, the author should also think about his family and respect the last wishes of the deceased. And if he wants to reveal the mystery of his birth, I believe that a DNA test can shed light on this mystery, Irina says briefly.

Well, commenters to the unedited post are almost certain that Gary was the author’s father, and it was not for nothing that he divided his fortune in a way that complicated Jason’s ability to challenge his will. “Something big happened between them and it was so big to Gary that he deliberately left most of it to you and $100,000 to Jason to make it difficult to contest,” perhaps most commenters wrote to some extent.

As far as the ethical aspect of the problem goes, almost all respondents here seem unanimous in their opinion – the OP needs to say this. “You’ll probably never know the reason, but clearly Gary wanted you to inherit his house and fortune. Respect their wishes and enjoy your life,” someone else urges the author in the feedback. And what will you, our dear reader, do with this condition?

Alternatively, people in the feedback urge the author to say this, saying that he would have to appreciate a deceased person’s will – and that DNA testing could do the rest.
