After a long wait, OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT app on macOS for everyone. I’ve been playing with it and seeing how it works and what’s right about it, and I’ve gone so far as to be inspired by the good looks. It’s all the power of ChatGPT in one convenient desktop bundle. Better yet, you won’t want to pay the price for it, as there’s no cost to get it, and it works with a separate OpenAI account (detached accounts have limitations on their use, even though Same, as they do on the Internet).
What I’ll take away from this in the upcoming Optical I’ve learned that there are three things I really like about the new ChatGPT Mac app. From its launch to its noteworthy features, I think you’ll thoroughly enjoy those aspects of the app.
Experienced Mac users will know that pressing the Cmd + Area keyboard shortcut opens the highlighted search bar, allowing you to base an app, find a document, view a definition, and save an entire search bar. OpenAI took a cue from the highlights on the ChatGPT app, as it opens in a similarly fast and easy way.
In the case of ChatGPT, you want to press Decide+Area. This launches a miniature highlight-like bar in which you can ask any questions you have to OpenAI’s chatbot. Its familiarity as a shortcut makes it easy to spot and easy to find on your keyboard, ensuring that ChatGPT is just a few button presses away.
And it’s more than just a simple text-entry garden – it’s essentially ChatGPT’s entire model shrunk into a miniature bar. If you choose the paperclip icon, you can add a document or picture to your search, take a screenshot of a viewed app, take an image using your webcam, or view the entire ChatGate window. . Everything from a handy guide to rough keyboard shortcuts makes it a really handy feature.
One of the main strengths of ChatGPT is the ability to inspect data, regardless of whether it is contained inside record data. The Mac app is like no other, and that makes it a great tool to help you manage your work and holidays alike.
For example, you might want to add a bunch of different gross sales reviews and ask it to extract noteworthy traits. Or add multiple assignments and request that it type the cut-off dates into an easily digestible list. You won’t want to remove this information and paste it into ChatGPT, as the app can scan through your recordsdata and find the information itself.
The fact that you would do this for your Mac app is important. You’re very unlikely to have to file paperwork like the one above for your iPhone for anything. I also usually find that I’ll see a lot of files and Finder windows at any given time when running on my Mac; When this happens, I’ll just drag my files directly from Finder into ChatGPT without needing to open a new browser tab and add them there. You can book ChatGPT on the optional Home Windows Governor, helping this value case even more.
The best feature of the ChatGPT Mac app is its ability to paint with screenshots. Select the paperclip icon and select Shoot Screenshot, and you’ll see a list of viewed apps and Home windows. Select an option and ChatGPT will automatically take a screenshot of the entire window and load it into the question field as per your input.
It has a wide variety of uses. You’ll snap a picture of the code you’re running and ask ChatGPT to fix it for you. Or take a screenshot of an email response and see if it will reword it in a more concise way. This is really useful when speed is noticeable – no need to copy and paste any text or even move apps, as ChatGPT handles it for you .
Screenshots are not images that ChatGPT works with. You can also add photos from your Mac or your Pictures library, or use your webcam to draw a new symbol. Do you need to prepare food for dinner? Take a photo of the ingredients you provide and ChatGPT will suggest a recipe.
Once again, problems are more simple on a Mac. You can drag photos directly out of the Pictures app or Finder and into ChatGPT, something that wouldn’t be anywhere near as easy in the iOS version. This makes it easier to run with images.
The ChatGPT app for macOS can accumulate far more than the issues I’ve discussed above. For example, when you’ve connected a microphone to your Mac, you’ll be discussing instructions and questions with the chatbot, which will probably seem simpler to you than typing (this will require you to see the entire app window, the Decision+Area Question Bar instead of using). And, of course, you’ll input general textual questions that will be useful to ChatGPT.
OpenAI says that “new audio and video capabilities of GPT-4o” are “coming in the future”, as is Home Windows Backup. If you want to run it on your Mac, you’ll need to install macOS 14 Sonoma or later and feature an Apple Silicon chip (M1 or higher).
One of the things I don’t like most about the ChatGPT Mac app is that OpenAI uses your questions to train its chatbot, although you can turn this off by clicking the ChatGPT icon on your menu bar and going to can do. Settings > Knowledge Control and disabling Strengthen fashion for everyone Possibility. There is also a way to refuse offline method, which has to be taken in hand. This is something that third-party apps can deal with.
Overall, despite this, the ChatGPT Mac app provides a great addition to your workflow, whether you want to boost your productivity or simply get things done a little faster on your computer. It is available on the OpenAI web page, although not in Apple’s App Collection yet.
