Caitlin Clark fever (no pun intended) is still sky high.

The WNBA rookie phenom was not only named an All-Star, but she received the most votes among all players.

Clark was the only player to garner 700,000 votes (up 735), while her Indiana Fever teammate Aaliyah Boston came in second with 618,680.

Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson, who received the most votes in the first round, was in third place with 607,300.

Entering Tuesday, Clark was averaging 16.2 points and 6.9 assists per game, both tops among rookies. Among all players, he ranks third in assists per game and 16th in points per contest.

Clark will be paired with his longtime rival in Angel Reese, who recently set the league’s all-time record for most consecutive games with a double-double (10). Reese leads the WNBA with 11.8 rebounds per game, and is one of only four players averaging a double-double this season.

Although Clark has recently poured cold water on any “rivalry” discussion between the two, their matchups are must-sees. It all started with the 2023 national championship, when LSU’s Reese hit then-Iowa Hawkeye Clark with a “You can’t see me” taunt and pointed at his ring finger.

Clark and Iowa retaliated in last March Madness tournament, and Clark is also 2-1 against Reese in her WNBA career. Now, the two will share a locker room, a bench and, possibly, the floor. Their last two matchups are the two most watched WNBA games in over 20 years.

Clark and Reese were the only two rookies to be listed as All-Stars – they would face the United States Olympic team, with Clark omitted in what remains a highly debated decision.

The Fever started slow and lost 10 of their first 13 games, but won four in a row before losing two of the next three. As of Tuesday, they were 8-12 on the season.

Since scoring only seven points on 3-for-11 shooting on June 13, Clark has gone on a streak by scoring in double figures in a season-high six straight games. She’s also had three double-doubles in that span, and in some of those instances she’s been extremely close to a triple-double. This season he has dropped 30 points twice, and has scored more than 20 points in seven contests.

Of course, the conversation about Clarke extends far beyond what she does on stage — her wild popularity has brought in historic ratings and attendance, leading to speculation that her WNBA teammates are jealous of her.

Wilson even claimed that Clark being white was a factor in his popularity, and there have been other slights toward him, both overt and covert.

Last week, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert rejected the notion that she was targeted, saying it seemed so because of her spotlight, and that her treatment on the floor was the same as everyone else’s.

Clark and Wilson will face off in Las Vegas on Tuesday night and the All-Star Game will take place on July 20 in Phoenix.
