Netflix Brandnew Release: July 2024

Axel Foley’s Going Back to Beverly Hills, an animated quality from former Studio Ghibli prowess, a jaw-dropping doc about love-struck “rooftoppers” and a final season from 3 Mote productions – a Spanish youth drama, a Viking saga and Daniel LaRusso’s The Last Hurricane — possibly the hottest attractions on Netflix in July.

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel FThe top version of Netflix for this generation, arrives July 3rd. The fourth installment of the Eddie Murphy-led action-comedy franchise sees Detroit detective Axel Foley heading back to Beverly Hills, thirty years after his last outing. This month, Foley must deal with an ancient wife – played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt – when her daughter’s (Taylor Paige) time is in danger. Franchise enthusiasts will be pleased to see regulars Billy Rosewood (Judgment on Reinhold), John Taggart (John Ashton), Jeffrey Friedman (Paul Reiser) and Serge (Bronson Pinchot), and series newcomer Kevin Francis Bacon may be a part of the cast. Launching on Netflix on July 5th Imaginary, the second animated feature from Eastern Animation Space Studio Ponok, an organization formed by former employees of Studio Ghibli. The animated film premiered at this preseason’s Annecy Animation Competition, and is directed by Ghibli alumnus Yoshiyuki Momose (little hero, next day’s leaves are coming) from a script by longtime Ghibli producer Yoshiaki Nishimura (story of princess kaguya) and is consistent with the book of the same title by A.F. Harrold. The film tells the story of a gentle woman’s imaginary friend who attempts to save her and their relationship.

The second half of the regular season will launch on Netflix in November, with the third season following later.

Debuting on the streamer on July 19, is Jeff Zimbalist’s groundbreaking documentary, Skywalkers: A Love Tale. The doc, which premiered at the 2024 Sundance Movie Festival, tells the story of Russian “rooftoppers” Angela Nikolaou and Vanya Bierkus, a couple of daredevils who have climbed the world’s tallest structures, often illegally. The film features over 200 hours of content shot over seven years and six countries, as well as Nicolau and Birkus’s personal photographs from their most harrowing climbs.

Simplest July 26, Netflix’s Crash Global Youngster Drama Aristocrat class Returns for the highly anticipated eighth and final season. The Spanish-language series, set at the fictional Las Encinas elite private university, will highlight more of his trademark twists and betrayals, while also doing a great job of covering social issues in a clever way. The normal season will feature action with the characters dealing with the aftermath of Raoul’s murder. Newcomers for Season 8 join Anne Rot, Nuno Gallego, Alexandra Pino, and Mario Ermito.
