Palms-on: The Beats tablet is back and better than ever

After the hot launch of the Solo Buds and Solo 4, Beats is at it again with another factor. In this era, it’s the return of the long-running Beats Tablet Wi-Fi speaker. The all-new Beats tablet keeps the long-lasting pill-shaped design and includes a few attention-grabbing surprises that make it worth the wait.

Apple says the Beats tablet offers 24-hour battery and speedy gasoline backup. This means a 10 minute charge can upload 2 hours of song playback. The new Beats tablet also charges via USB-C instead of Lightning. It’s worth noting that the USB-C port also means you can charge another device with your Beats tablet, similar to your iPhone.

Regarding connectivity, the brandnew Beats tablet features the proprietary Beats Silicon for cross-compatibility with iPhone and Android. Beats says Apple customers get:

• One-Touch Pairing: Simple, one-touch setup
• iCloud pairing: Instantly pair with every tool for your iCloud account
• iPhone/Apple Monitor Pairing: Robotically hand audio to Apple Monitor when iPhone is out of range
• Customize product identification or button configuration within the Bluetooth menu
• Find My: Find your lost Beats tablet on a map
• Updates: Receive device updates over-the-air

Android users get many of the same benefits, including one-touch pairing, audio transfer, and Find My Instrument integration.

Beats has some important claims about the Pitch component for the brand new Beats tablet. Here’s what the company says:

The Beats tablet is designed to perform great both outside and inside your home. The advanced acoustic structure delivers extra strong, room-filling pitch, big bass and enhanced articulation across the audio spectrum.

The completely redesigned Racetrack woofer with more powerful neodymium magnets helps force 28% additional motor power and displaces 90% additional air volume, while its cutting-edge construction with radial ribbing reduces low-end distortion. Helping to do that – even at prime volume. Joined by its individual housing for great balance to aid with falling distortion, the redesigned tweeter delivers dry highs and gorgeous midrange tones.

The streamlined Beats tablet includes a 20-degree upward tilt for better on-axis pitch projection, which helps reduce reflected pitch.

The Beats tablet also offers lossless audio backup via USB-C. Beats says it can increase the maximum pattern charge to 48 kHz/24-bit, “so you can enjoy better audio quality listening with your Beats tablet”. There’s also an integrated microphone for speakerphone backup and tone-laborer interplay (though you won’t get ‘Hey Siri’ backup here).

I’ve always liked the design of Beats tablets, so I’m disappointed to see Apple discontinue the Beats Tablet+ without any replacement. Having then spent a few days with it, I feel confident in saying that the Beats Tablet is back and better than ever.

I’m far from an audiophile, so I don’t have an entire cache to mention regarding the audio component of the Beats tablet. It sounds better and goes much faster than the HomePod. Alternatively, it doesn’t have the same room-filling pitch as the full-sized HomePod. It seems to be on par with alternative Bluetooth audio systems in its length and price, if not a notch above the max of them.

I’m checking out two beats drugs for the occasion of the year, which allowed me to additional struggle with the enlarged and stereo form options. Here’s how Beats explains those options:

For all the improvements and lines offered by the new Beats tablet, I can’t help but wish Beats had added a little something extra and AirPlay backup. To do this, the Beats tablet would need Wi-Fi connectivity, which it doesn’t have now.

To be fair, when Apple first introduced AirPlay 2 at WWDC 2017, it mentioned Beats as one of the important manufacturers that could back up the feature. When preliminary rumors of a brand new Beats tablet surfaced, I expected it to be the long-awaited portable Beats speaker with AirPlay backup. Eventually that was no longer the case.

Nonetheless, the brand new Beats tablet trades on other specific advertising issues. Because of that optimized Beats chip, it can potentially have deeper integration with Apple platforms than any alternative Bluetooth speaker on the market.

The Beats tablet gets almost everything going for the revival of a singular, fan-favorite product. It remains true to its iconic roots while also making several notable improvements. This includes higher pitch components, further battery days, further connectivity and USB-C.

If you’re in the market for a Bluetooth speaker, the Beats Tablet is worth a look. One-touch connectivity and pairing for Apple units negates the price, which makes it a far cry from the festival.
