Rachel Lindsay is slamming her estranged husband Brian Abasolo for allegedly exaggerating her “glamorous” lifestyle in her dissolution petition in January.
In Lindsay’s response statement, obtained exclusively via Page Six on Thursday, the former “Bachelorette” megastar says she “does not consent” to Abasolo’s request for spousal support and attorney’s fees.
“I’m not as short on cash as he admits,” writes Lindsay, 39. “And I certainly can’t pay his attorney $75,000 to litigate our simple divorce. If I did that, I wouldn’t have enough money left to pay my lawyer.
The previous attorney claims he has “approximately $88,500 in non-retirement funds” and that his “financial situation has changed over the years.”
These days, Lindsay co-hosts the “Higher Learning” podcast with Van Lathan.
“I have sporadic social media deals, but my primary source of income from 2023 is my work with Spotify,” she explains.
The ex-reality megastar went on to mention that the estranged couple’s “marital standard of living (‘MSOL’) was nowhere near as glamorous as Brian portrays it,” alleging that the two “rarely had a -saw each other or even lived together” during (their) brief marriage.”
According to Lindsay, she and Abasolo – a 44-year-old chiropractor who “hosts a podcast and receives income from social media” – had a wedding ceremony in Cancun in August 2019.
“However, we got legally married on October 4, 2019,” she says.
They agree that their divorce is scheduled for December 31, 2023.
Abasolo, who met Lindsay while competing on “The Bachelorette” in 2017, filed for dissolution on Jan. 2.
“At all times, Brian and I maintained separate bank accounts (checking and savings), credit cards, retirement accounts, and brokerage accounts. We did not have a joint account during our marriage,” she writes, because it was already clear to her that he had not signed the prenuptial note.
“From October 2019 to March 2021, before moving to Los Angeles, Brian and I split all household expenses. I used my income and he used his income, she says.
“Since moving to Los Angeles in March 2021, I have paid for the cost of our housing, the cost of caring for our pets (including their food, medication, daycare, boarding, vet bills and pet insurance), and Brian’s health insurance. While they paid the gardener and contributed to some of the housekeeping costs.”
According to Lindsay, the couple’s marital home in LA was purchased in February 2022 “with funds from (her) premarital separate property.”
He alleges that Abasolo “continues to live in (his) house without contributing to the living expenses.”
Lindsay went on to clarify her trips, saying that her “trips were either sponsored or (they) each paid for (their) own airfare.”
“If I was paying, I wouldn’t have flown Brian business or first class. He made the economy fly. We usually split hotel costs 50/50,” she claims, adding that “Brian mixes up a lot of the trips that (he) took before the wedding and those that (he) took during the marriage. ”
Lindsay claims that Abasolo “failed to notice that the cost of many of these non-recurring trips was subsidized by other sources.”
“Before the wedding, we went to Mexico twice – once to look at our wedding venue and once for our wedding ceremony,” she says.
During their marriage, Lindsay explains that Abasolo took her to Santa Barbara “once for (her) birthday”, which she paid for.
“The NFL once sent me to Tennessee for a non-recurring work trip and paid for our travel,” she says. “I used to go to New York often for work. Brian sometimes went with me.
Lindsay continues, “We went to Sarasota, Florida for two weddings in a row. We once went to Washington, D.C., to attend the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. I paid for this trip.
Lindsay claims that she and Abasolo “once went to Colombia to attend (her) cousin’s wedding” and that they “each paid (their) own way” and “split the hotel room 50/50. ”
Lindsay notes that she “took a sponsored trip to Mexico while married to another couple from ‘The Bachelor’,” including that she “did not pay for this trip.”
“He did not mention the trip to Aruba for which we were paid,” she writes.
Lindsay says the restaurants Abasolo named in his statement are “not places he frequents.”
“For example, we once went to Mother Wolf to celebrate a special occasion. Brian paid for this meal,” she says.
Lindsay alleges that she and Abasolo “rarely went out together and didn’t even go on monthly dates” because “Brian often worked late nights” and she “traveled a lot for work.”
