President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a social media post that hours of sunlight hit five Ukrainian cities with more than 40 missiles of various types, targeting condo structures and populated infrastructure. Ukraine’s air force said it intercepted 30 missiles.
The attack in Zelensky’s birthplace of Kryvyi Rih in central Ukraine killed 10 people and wounded 47, with the head of the city’s leadership, Oleksandr Vilkul, saying it was a major missile attack. The government reported that seven people were killed in Kiev.
“It is very important that the world should no longer be silent about this and that everyone should see what Russia is and is doing,” Zelensky said on social media.

Ukraine’s security provider said it found debris of a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile at the site and has filed a lawsuit accusing it of war crimes. The Kh-101 is an air-launched missile that flies low to avoid radar detection. Ukraine said it shot down 11 of the 13 Kh-101 missiles fired on Monday.
Czech President Petr Pavel said the attack on the hospital was “inexcusable” and that he hoped there would be a consensus at the NATO summit that Russia is “the biggest threat for which we must be fully prepared.”
The German government also condemned the attacks. A Foreign Office spokesman called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to “immediately end this war of aggression against so many innocent people.”
Russia’s Defense Ministry said the measures were focused on Ukrainian defense plants and armed forces air bases and were successful. It denied targeting any civilian facilities and claimed without evidence that photographs from Kiev indicated the damage was caused by a Ukrainian air defense missile.
Since the beginning of the war, now in its third year, Russian officials have constantly claimed Moscow’s forces never attack civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, despite what officials in Kiev say, in addition to Associated Press reporting.
Elsewhere in Kiev, where seven of the city’s 10 districts were struck in the heaviest Russian bombardment of the capital in nearly four months, the crackdown left seven dead and 25 wounded, officials said.
In the first move, about three hours later, additional missiles struck Kiev and partially destroyed a private medical center. Ukraine’s situation provider said, four people were killed there.
In the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital, a three-storey residential building was destroyed. Situation teams searched for casualties, and AP newshounds spotted them carrying three bodies.
Resident Halina Sieciwka said the powerful explosion caused chars inside access structures, shattered windows and knocked a dog into a neighboring backyard.
“Now there is nothing in our apartment, no windows, no door, nothing. Nothing,” the 28-year-old said.
