Shannen Doherty decided to finalize her split from her estranged husband, Kurt Iswarienko, before her death.
In line with Community, the “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum filed the form on Friday to waive spousal backup. He died on Saturday at the age of 53.
The former couple reportedly filed documents stating a “default or uncontested dissolution” of their marriage.
Isvarienko, 50, signed the form on Saturday – on the occasion that Doherty died of stage four cancer.
Doherty next filed for separation from Isvarienko in April 2023 alleging that he cheated on her, which he denied.
The “Charmed” superstar accused Isvarienko of having an affair during their 12-year marriage. The couple tied the knot in 2011.
She claimed that she found out about his infidelity before undergoing surgery to remove the tumor from his brain in January 2023.
“Even though, to be very clear, he wanted to go, I couldn’t go to that surgery with him,” Doherty said on her podcast, “Let’s Be Clear,” in December.
“I felt very betrayed,” she added. “At the end of the day, I felt like I incredibly disliked the person I was with for 14 years, whom I loved with all my heart. Just going through (the health crises) trying to figure out if you’re going to get a divorce from King and trying to figure out the truth of it.
Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, undergoing a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation. She went into remission in 2017, but in February 2020 she announced that she had level 4 breast cancer.
The “Heathers” actress had to deal with her controversial separation during the final year of her move.
Extreme Life, Doherty claimed in court documents that Isvarienko was delaying their separation and putting off paying his spouse until she died.
She said at the time that she was not provided financial details about her “collection” of photographs of her ex-husband.
Doherty wrote, “It is simply not right to allow Kurt to prolong our divorce in the hope that I will die before he needs to pay me, while he continues to live his life and He will run away from his responsibilities towards his dying wife of more than 11 years.” In submission, corresponding to web page six.
However Isvarienko denied Doherty’s claims and insisted he wanted to finalize the separation in September 2023, when he offered Doherty a deal which he rejected.
According to Page Six, Doherty refused Isvrienko’s commitment to the settlement because he “avoided issues of his original works created during (their) marriage” and what kind of earnings he made.
Doherty allegedly asked Iswarienko to pay $15,343 per 30 days of spousal backup and an additional $9,100 to save on his attorneys’ costs. She requested $11,800 in additional fees “in efforts to obtain Kurt’s complete response” for his prison court cases.
The “Hamara Ghar” superstar told doctors in June that her profits were down “significantly” this year because she was not able to work due to her cancer.
After Doherty’s death, her friend Tara Furiani, an industry consultant who runs the company Not the HR Girl, criticized Isvarienko in a LinkedIn post.
“I am truly saddened and disturbed by the death of my friend Shannon… as she was going through a divorce at the time,” Furiani wrote. He said Doherty’s motion caused “deep” pain and conflict due to Isvarienko not being a “decent human being” and “showing little humanity towards his dying wife”.
The post also said, “Shan lost everything (including her SAG insurance) and her husband is dragging his feet in pursuit of income in court in an effort to delay any judgment or payment until He did not die (where this would now be controversial),” the post also said.
Isvarienko was at one time Doherty’s third husband.
She was previously married to Rick Salomon from 1993 to 1994 and Ashley Hamilton from 2002 to 2003.
The popular actress said on her podcast in December that although she “failed at marriage three times,” she still believed in love.
“I take some responsibility for the end of our marriage,” she said of her relationship with Isvarienko. “Actually, this is not true. Let me say that again. I don’t take responsibility for the end of our marriage, I take responsibility for some of the issues in our marriage.”
Doherty did not have children with any of her former husbands.
