Space of Dragons Episode 4 Recap: Is Aegon Dead?

spoiler ALERT! The reference covers all the tried-and-true brotherhood highlights from “House of the Dragon,” episode 4.

When an important dragon battle is about to be fought in HBO’s “House of the Dragon,” you can bet the noticeably patch-wearing Prince Aemond (Evan Mitchell) and his scaly horse Vágar are within the mix. The destructive Rider-Dragon duo had already ignited the conflict between Vegeta and the Blacks by knocking Prince Lucreez and his dragon Syrax out of the sky in the Season 1 finale.

Sunday’s episode 4 (now streaming on Max) moves from civil war to massive bloodshed and an attack on the layout’s biggest dragon casualty, the Battle at Rooks Remains, the stronghold of the Blacks supporting Queen Rhaenyra.

Vegeta’s commander Ser Kristen Cole (Fabian Frankel)’s foolish attack on the walls of Rook’s remains is supposedly a ploy to draw out Princess Rhaenys Targaryen (Eve Best), who flies to the safety of the vital fortress. Undercover Aemond and Whaggar are about to ambush and kill an unsuspecting Rhaenys when the drunken and glory-seeking Vegeta King Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) blasts his Balerion into the field.

Is there a strong hope for Aemond to build on his journey from the battle over Rook’s remains?

Within the first two episodes of Season 2, Emond operates from the periphery. She has a shade council with like-minded Kristen Cole. They lie dormant and wait for their existence. This is certainly intentional, though it does raise the question whether Aegon was once like this. However Aemond would never have planned to harm his brother. Aegon was ever changeable in state. So two dragons with one stone, eliminates two gamers from the game board for Amond.

In the final scene, Aemond displays negative regret after seeing his dead brother surrounded by a smoldering dead dragon. This is his job. Is Aemond going to travel and make sure his brother is dead by his own sword, before Kol intervenes?

Needless to say, this may be the intention. Or perhaps he is simply sheathing his sword. You don’t know what Emond’s goal is. He is checking or completing his brother. That ambiguity is extremely attractive. If I answer the question, the family will stop asking questions. What I like about Emond is that he keeps you guessing all the time.
