A substantial number of businesses focus on the environment and sustainability to strengthen their ESG ratings, but how many are engaged in the controversy? One part of the grounds always remains close to nature and absorbs a set of environmental courses and that is Park Scandinavia.

Scandi solutions to design, assemble and live are one of the reasons for the immense global success of great brands like Ikea, Bang & Olufsen and Volvo. Those companies are models of the Scandinavian lifestyle that includes great design, clever production and above all, simplicity. As someone once said: “Keep it simple, idiot!”

The Ankle Pitch ES2 is a Bluetooth speaker designed in Denmark that aims to make listening to music as simple as possible. The eco-friendly ES2 offers an uncluttered mid-range as well as crisp highs and a commendable bass.

With 80W of muscular tone mixed in, all housed in a sturdy cabinet made from recyclable plastic, this is one sturdy portable speaker. The housing is molded in two pieces and sealed with Torx screws to prevent false rattles or distortion even over large volume ranges. The speaker is rated IP65 to resist splashes and fog, although due to the visible bass reflex port, don’t throw it in a swimming lake as it will drown.

Designed in Copenhagen through Ankle Pitch, the ES2 reflects the ethos of its inventors. The Danish pledge NKL is truly “simple” and this is the principle of its design and assembly. The ES2 is powered via a powerful rechargeable battery that can play for about 20 hours a day at full volume. At low volume levels it will play games for quite a long time, possibly up to 80 hours. At medium doses you can expect 36 hours. Having a huge battery reduces the need for recharging which increases the battery life.

It takes about two hours to fully charge the ES2’s battery using a 5V PD fast charger while using a USB-C charging port. You will still play the game song when the battery runs out. To minimize environmental degradation, the ES2 does not come with a charger, but you can use any 5V USB PD charger you have at home. Your phone’s only device will almost certainly work great.

The battery is integrated into the ES2 and Ankle Pitch says it’s possible to modify it yourself if you know how to hold a screwdriver. It is also possible that a battery replacement plan may be announced going forward. The product has a 2-year warranty and comes with a battery.

The speaker’s controls are located on its back and they’re as simple as it gets. There are four buttons: a power button, two volume buttons, and a button to change how much rate the battery has at rest. Press the battery button and 9 blue LEDs on the back of the speaker will light up to show how much rate is left on the way.

This is the total amount of controls. There are no play game, lay down or skip controls, nor is there a dedicated remote control. You can download major iOS or Android smartphone apps and use your phone to control the songs. The app is pretty basic but it does offer firmware updates and an EQ function so you can condition the pitch of the song if you need extra treble or bass.

The tone is fantastically forged from this forged modest triangle of audio goodness. It offers smooth audio with great pitch and ample amount of bass. Support for SBC or AAC Bluetooth formats is available, depending on which smartphone or tablet you are using to play your song. This type of speaker with a high-resolution format like LDAC or aptX HD probably doesn’t have much quality as it is an external and portable speaker and no longer a high-end audiophile product.

It is a strong sounding speaker that can amplify the sound and prepare for the progress of the celebration with a swing. It also has a 3.5 mm stereo Aux input for connecting a radio or CD Walkman. This is a pleasant method, especially in situations where you do not have an Internet connection to stream songs, but may have headphones or an FM radio with an AUX output.

For those who want even bigger tones or a larger stereo soundstage, the ES2 can be easily paired with a 2d unit using TWS. You will have a stereo connection in highest sync which is ideally suited for events. And with a total output of 160W from two speakers, the Enkl ES2 has more power than many disco or PA equipment.

The ES2’s rotationally molded cabinet has an integral grip that makes it easy to carry around the house or work in the field. At only 2.9kg, the ES2 is a great choice for carrying around the house, but I would have liked to see some anchor things for the shoulder strap so it could be easily carried to a picnic page or tenting box, without having to slip your palms. One more thing to leave behind, sovereign.

One feature I would like to see in this speaker is USB data input, so you can connect the ES2 to a computer or smartphone and be playing high-resolution audio games instantly. I’m not really sure how difficult this would be to implement, however it might make this speaker more attractive and be a great high-resolution PC tone device.

Decision: There’s plenty to like about the insanely simple and industrially stunning Enkl Pitch ES2 Bluetooth speaker. Some networks will balk at the fact that it doesn’t deal with AirPlay, Chromecast or any Hello-Res formats, although the whole point of ES2 is to keep things simple and straightforward. The vocal component is the best for this type of speaker and has a solidity that doesn’t waver in any way. If I have any criticism, it’s the automatic power-off feature. It also starts a little too early when you’re not streaming. I would like to see the environment integrated into the smartphone app to control that day as I find it shuts down in about 10 minutes lately. Ankle Pitch says it may be integrated into the Life Updates of the app, so protect this area. Plus, it’s a stylish, powerful, and eco-conscious Bluetooth speaker with a price that’s easy to understand and can play games at a longer range than most portable audio systems. For those who love luxurious Scandinavian design, coupled with forged acoustic engineering and construction components, the ES2 is a great investment for the farmland, conservatory, RV or summerhouse.

Pricing & Availability: The Enkl Pitch ES2 Portable Bluetooth Speaker is now available in grey, white, dull and green. The price is 2,399.20 Danish kroner which is approximately $350 or £279 in stream trade fees. With a little luck the company will quickly sort out local currency distribution.
