The Severn (Mo.) Archbishop Spalding four-star prospect made the call live on the 247Sports YouTube channel, capping a years-long recruiting run that had him ranked at the top of Maryland’s Class of 2025 recruiting board.

“The ability to stay at home (was important),” said the 6-foot-3-inch, 200-pound Washington. “My parents never pressured me to stay home or stay close or do anything like that, but it was a decision I wanted to make for myself.
“My little brother runs here, and I want to watch him and my little sisters grow up. If I can do it from home, why not do it from home?”

Washington is a dynamic dual-sport athlete who also plays basketball and had interest from schools early in his high school career before deciding to play football in college.
He excelled the last two seasons and was 21-3 as a starter. He completed 195 of 313 passes for 2,093 yards, 21 touchdowns and nine touchdowns last season. As a sophomore, he completed 221 of 370 passes for 2,979 yards, 29 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Andrew Ivins, the scouting director for 247Sports, watched Washington live on a few occasions over the past five weeks.
“Play-making quarterback who excels as a middle-third passer,” Ivins said. “Owns a promising multi-sport profile and has tested in the upper percentiles: with a 4.65 in the 40-yard dash and a 4.38 in the short shuttle at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds. Is dangerous as a runner and Will makes things like a scrambler, but while working through his progressions he tries to get the job done out of his pocket.
