Kate Middleton “put her game face on” to join in during the 2024 Trooping the Color parade, according to a frame language expert.
“Judging by the first photo of Kate Middleton and Prince William attending the ceremony together, Kate is wearing a hidden smile. Darren Stanton mentioned this to Slingo, according to Industry Insider.
The Princess of Wales, 42, made her first public appearance at the once-a-year ceremony in London on Saturday since revealing her cancer diagnosis.
“She’s using it as a way to power through and do her best,” Stanton said of Middleton, adding that her composure makes her appear calm and collected on the outside.
He also said that his “smile is not completely engaged.”
“Internally, she’s feeling a desire to make people proud, but she’s also feeling nervous — which is understandable,” Stanton said.
Before the parade, Middleton entered Buckingham Palace in a car with her husband Prince William and their three children. He waved to people only a few times during the entire ceremony – which Stanton described as “significant”.
“It makes her seem pretty laid back,” he said. “She seems to be trying to avoid attention by keeping a lot of distance,” he said.
Middleton stood between William, 41, and his wife’s father, King Charles, who also has cancer, as they watched the traditional military flyover at Buckingham Palace.
Their children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, were also there.
Middleton and her children were seen peering through a window to watch the Horse Guards Parade ceremony, where she stood for about five minutes – occasionally leaning over – before looking onto the balcony with other members of the royals. Was having trouble talking to children – even before she was given a chair.
During the procession, Prince George told Middleton, “Look over there Mummy,” a lip reader told The Sun.
As Trooping the Color began, Middleton received loud applause from hundreds of royal enthusiasts lining the Mall as she and her three children traveled in a carriage, with William on horseback for the occasion.
Middleton provided information about her condition on Friday, indicating that she will be participating in Trooping the Colour.
In an emotional letter, the princess revealed she is undergoing chemotherapy and is “not out yet” in her battle with cancer.
“I’m making good progress, but as anyone who has gone through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” she said. “I am learning how to be patient, especially in times of uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to your body, and allowing yourself to take this much-needed time to recover.
“I look forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade with my family this weekend
And I hope to attend some public events over the summer, but I also know I won’t be doing that.
Still out of the woods,” he added.
Recalling the practice session for Trooping the Color afterward, Middleton asked King Charles, 75, to share the internal song he committed to the parade, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson told The Post.
Middleton has largely been ostracized from the community since revealing her cancer diagnosis.
She told the platform about her condition in a pre-recorded video on March 22, leading to speculation as to why she was missing from the community highlights.
