The car in question is a 1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec, listed in Gulfport, Mississippi, through seller HBWholesale. It’s an interesting snip, and we’re told it’s given the empty Florida name and 56,200 km (~34,900 miles) on the clock. At the month of writing, the top bid sits at $100,000 with a difference of two days. This would be a modest borrowing, although you would expect the fee to increase reasonably before the public sale closes.
Dive into the numbers, however, and things get a little curious. Famous through Facebook web page Staff distant soul, Entering the VIN into Google reveals some irregularities.
The automobile is marked with an untouched VIN plate marked BNR34-001222. It is presented in some playgrounds, among them Vintage.com is important. That page lists the Wave Vehicles and Bids auction page, but it also details sales previously attempted through Accumulating Vehicles in September years. At the time, in Malaysia the car was listed with only 14,724 km (9,149 mi) on the clock, with the notice that the total mileage was unknown – indicating that the car lacked actual mass.
Dig deeper and you’ll find an additional interesting result. A car with the same VIN appears on the @wheelsporn Instagram account, which was posted on November 1, 2023. That month, the Indonesian account listed the car with 72,000 km (~44,000 miles) on the clock. Interestingly, in the subsequent 21 hours, the post has been edited to list the VIN as “BNR34-00xxx…” The car looks different in details also. The stereo, exterior lights, and intercooler are all different, and under the hood, there’s at least a different cam shield, intake, and turbo setup. The mod checklist is also a bit different, with the engine appearing to have N1 restrictions, solid HKS pistons and rings, an intercooler, a GReddy radiator, and it’s relying on an HKS FCON ECU.

In contrast, Vehicles and Bids lists autos with a few different types of modifications. We’re instructed it recently added a Tomei exhaust and titanium downpipe, an HKS blow-off valve, and a Grady intercooler. It also features a Haltec 2500 ECU with flex-fuel sound, although no dyno chart is provided to tell us how much backup power these mods can make. Despite everything, some or even not all parts match the Instagram post, and there is no mention of N1 restrictions or solid internals in any regard. Oh, and the auto appears to be running on Volcano batteries… most obvious in the UAE.
In fact, none of this mentions that Auto is no longer essentially what it claims to be, on vehicles and bids. It is entirely conceivable that clerical errors are responsible, or that the Indonesia and Malaysia posts themselves are fake. The car must also have been legitimately purchased and exchanged this year; One of the important real lighting fixtures that is integrated with the vehicle and bid sales helps in this concept. The seller claims that he had purchased the auto this year.
Despite this, this oddity has raised questions regarding the prison status of the automobile in the United States. This is partly because every R34 GT-R is no longer restricted for import into the United States. If indeed this car is BNR34-001222, it was manufactured in January 1999 GT-R Registry. It’s been over 25 years now May Were imported legally from the states. Commenters on the public sale web page have asked for documentation to ascertain the subject matter.

At the seller level, HBWholesale is doing its part to answer questions on the public sale web page. is famous through Staff distant soul, The vehicle and quote pictures display a VIN plate that does not appear to be a genuine article, with typos and a different font for the manufacturing unit example. This is in contrast to the previous photo shared by the seller of a worn and broken VIN plate. The Wave seller also notes that they have contacted the original importer for more details on the condition of the automotive and the import side. The seller posted an import bill dated 10/25/2023 for the VIN in question from a Farm Auto Team in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
“The vendor has been unusually diligent and responsive in working with us and trying to figure out what is going on. He’s still looking into it,” Doug DeMuro, the Web page’s founder, told us in a text. “If we don’t reach a positive conclusion before the auction ends, obviously we will cancel it for the benefit of our bidders – but we have a few days, and the seller’s positive attitude and legitimate efforts in trying to learn.” Given that, we are willing to give him a little more time for due diligence.”
Adding to this factor is the truth that, while older vehicles often require the right kind of import bureaucracy to get identification, not all circumstances will carry that document back with DMV identification. Of course it doesn’t matter if you’re buying a PT Cruiser from your friend, but for 25 year old cars it’s a much bigger business.
,mercedes note: Luke of Team Free Spirit gives comprehensive information on the history of an imported vehicle so buyers don’t get confused. The poor quality VIN plate, in a font not used by Nissan and with a bad typo in the engine/transmission area, makes you question the rest of the vehicle. There was no mention of repairs to the vehicle until the VIN plate discrepancy came to light. The question is also whether this vehicle is from 1999 or later, which will affect its import status. Thankfully, the seller is working hard to figure it all out. – M / s)
In general, it’s a lovely R34. Still, until the situation gets better, you may have to tread lightly. There’s a lot of money to be made when uploading carts like this, and you always need to make sure you’re getting what you paid for.
