Unfortunately, Sinner admitted that he had been feeling unwell the entire day before the match and did not want to retire in order to give himself every chance to advance. The Italian could sometimes be seen in discomfort on the bench as he took time-outs in an attempt to regain his energy. It was not enough that Russia forced the Italian to play for long periods on center court.
“I was struggling physically,” Sinner said in his post-match interview. “I didn’t vomit but it took a while because I was feeling quite dizzy. I was still ready to play somehow. The energy level wasn’t consistent. It went up and down but I was never going to retire.” I wasn’t thinking.
“Don’t take anything away from Danil. I think he played very well. He played good tennis.” Medvedev admitted that he could tell Sinner was struggling during the match and took advantage of the play.
“It’s always difficult, because you want to play more points to make him suffer a little bit more – in a good way – and at the same time, you know at some point he’s going to say, ‘Well, I don’t. “I can run harder,” Medvedev said, ending his five-match losing streak to the Italian. “It’s not easy for the Russians.” .
After Medvedev’s victory, there will be a repeat of last year’s semi-final defeat against defending champion Alcaraz. The Spaniard’s victory was more straightforward and he admitted he was expecting a more difficult game against the Russian.
“Same semi-final as last year, hopefully I can get the same result,” Alcaraz said ahead of his blockbuster semi-final. “But he’s a really great player and he just beat the best player.” While one semi-final has been decided, the other is yet to be decided as De Minaur prepares for one of the biggest matches of his career.
Former #1 Daniil Medvedev defeated world #1 Jannik Sinner 6-7(7), 6-4, 7-6(4), 2-6, 6-3 to reach his second consecutive title. #wimbledon Semifinals.

Sure, he was recovering from injury in the RG, and was clearly ill at Wimbledon today, but those are two very bad losses for Sinner.

In another quarter-final, Novak Djokovic will face Australian De Minaur on the center court. The 26-year-old Australian appeared to injure himself on match point during his win over Arthur Phills. De Minaur staggered off the court and admitted he had injured his hip.
He later clarified that there was a “blow” in his hip and that it was “a bit ‘ginger'”, but added: “It’s probably a bit scarier than anything. I am feeling quite well. I’ve done my work I’m sure I’ll feel great tomorrow. I am very proud to have reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon. You can count on me to try my best and play my heart out.”
And to help the crowd support the Australian, his partner and British tennis star, Katie Boulter, has appointed de Minaur as an ‘honorary’ Briton ahead of her clash with the seven-time Grand Slam champion. With Bolter in his player’s box, De Minaur should receive a great deal of support in his Wimbledon clash against Djokovic.

De Minaur may have needed the support of the crowd as he looked to be in pain after his incident against the Phils. Reports suggest that the Australian player did not train on the day off as he seeks to recover from the incident. Although he may have trained away from the practice court, there are very few areas where the Australian team has had success without being noticed.
Immediately after his injury the Australian tried to allay fears that it would affect his performance against Djokovic. He said, “I’ll be okay. I’ll find a way.” “You can count on me to go out there and try my best and play my heart out.”
Meanwhile, Djokovic also entered the tournament with a knee injury, but he has allayed fears of a quarter-final clash. “The knee has been really – knock on wood – really good. It hasn’t reacted negatively to some of the slips I’ve had today,” he said.
“Being careful because of the knee, I’ve been really experimenting (with movement). In the first few rounds I still wasn’t ready to go to extreme balls, slide and split, but in the last few matches I Have done this.”
