The Russian government detained and interrogated Magomed Omarov, the head of Dagestan’s Sergokalinsky district, on Sunday over the alleged involvement of his family members, according to TASS. According to a source in the security services, he was free but was detained again for “petty hooliganism,” according to RIA Novosti, Mash and other popular Russian Telegram channels.
Russia’s Investigative Committee announced that 5 suspects had already been killed or “eliminated”. According to a Russian security carrier source, two of those “eliminated” were Omarov’s son, 31-year-old Osman Omarov, and his nephew, 36-year-old Ali Zakariaev, RIA Novosti reported. According to Komsomolskaya Pravda, his 37-year-old son Adil Omarov was also murdered, as well as his nephew, 32-year-old Abdussamed Amadzhiev, of Baza.
According to TASS, the regional governor, Sergei Melikov, said that Magomed Omarov could be held fully responsible, if the government had concerned itself with finding out that parents are responsible for everything they bring.
“He as the head of a municipality, as a member of the United Russia party, as a high-level leader who has been serving as the head of a municipality for many years, whose duties are to take care of Comes, why? The entire population of the region did not pay attention, missed the children and missed them so much that they became murderers,” Melikov requested, according to TASS.
Omarov has been expelled from United’s birthday celebrations since Sunday, TASS reports.
Melikov said Pocket “is carrying out operational search and investigative activities … until all participants in the ‘sleeper cell’ are identified.” According to a report by Komsomolskaya Pravda, Omarov had eight sons, each of whom was being investigated for ties to terrorist organizations.
Sunday’s attack, in which gunmen attacked religious parks of prayer and a police checkpoint in Derbent and Makhachkala in Dagestan, killed 21 people, according to regional health ministry data. Al Azzam Media, a media outlet belonging to ISIS affiliate ISIS-K, claimed that the attack was carried out following a demand for an attack from ISIS.
According to the Institute for the Study of War, the attacks may have been coordinated by the ISIS sleeper mobile Vilayet Kavkaz.
It is the deadliest attack in Russia since the Moscow shootings in March.
Russia is trying to steel itself against a new wave of terrorist attacks. The Russian government launched a sweeping crackdown on migrants across society in the wake of the Moscow attacks with the aim of cracking down on any terrorist groups plotting attacks.
And even though anti-terrorism brigades were on top alert, Russia’s security and intelligence machinery was trapped by the barricade, according to local officials – and the calls could have come from within the house. Mogamed Omarov, a spokesman for Putin’s personal party who has ties to the suspects in the brutal attack, held an anti-terrorism meeting as recently as April, according to Reuters.
Russian lawmakers are already trying to shift blame for the incident to the West, echoing Russian government claims that Ukraine was also responsible for the Moscow attack.
“The United States and its European satellites, which cannot accept the real defeat of their Kiev puppets on the fronts of the Northern Military District, have become full sponsors of state terrorism,” said the head of the Condition Duma Committee on Overseas. Affairs, Leonid Slutsky noted on social media. “The blood of the victims of today’s terrorist attacks is also on their hands.”

During interrogation, Omarov said that his children were Wahhabi, or members of the Sunni Muslim sect, according to the BAJA document. The paintings and connections to his children have raised questions about how similar suspected terrorism circles are to politicians in Russia.
It looks like Omarov’s son Osman Omarov is having a bad year. According to Mash, he allegedly “had ties to Turkey” and was “recruited” there. Mash said he had returned from an 18-month stay there in April. A friend speaking to Komsomolskaya Pravda described Osman as “always with criminal license plates”.
From 2012 to 2014, he worked at the Derbent Cognac Factory, owned by United Russia’s State Duma deputy Murad Gadzhiev, who is also known as the “King of Derbent,” according to Vorontka.
He was also reportedly involved in the analog development industry for MSK1.ru and Mash.
(Osman also previously owned a restaurant called “Lemonade” on the coast of the Caspian Sea, Mash reported – even though reviews suggested the service was penniless even though it was very good. “In general, I don’t know” Want to go back to the bar,” said one reviewer. “Not enough service and the kitchen is terrible!!!”
Omarov’s nephew, Ali Zakariaev, used to be the former head of the Sergokalinsky district section of the A Simply Russia Birthday Party. However, since that attack, the party has decided to expel him, according to Rodiom.
“They did not notice anything like that in the party, we did not notice, they worked actively, cooperated with us, participated in elections. There were absolutely no (complaints)… He used to come to the meetings regularly. We’re a little surprised here,” the birthday party noted in a comment.

Abdussamed Amadzhiev, one of Omarov’s nephews, previously worked as a mechanic and “had no problems with the law before”, a law enforcement source told RIA Novosti. Vorstka reported that he worked at the Dagestangazservice company, later called Gazprom Fuel Distribution Dagestan.
Adil Omarov, another son of Omarov, reportedly attended the College of Law of the Dagestan State College and competed in freestyle wrestling, according to his father.
ISIS-K, which claimed the shooting in Moscow, praised the attack in Dagestan, noting that it was “carried out by brothers in the Caucasus who showed that they are still strong.”
ISIS crisis
Now only Russia is not in danger due to the emerging crisis of terrorism. ISIS-K recently plotted various attacks on alternative ECU countries, in line with the French government.
According to the State Department, ISIS-K clandestine urban cells have recently proven difficult to destroy. According to leaked documents from the Pentagon notice, ISIS has been able to regroup and plan attacks in Europe and Asia since the failed withdrawal of the United States from Afghanistan in 2021.
